The Adam Connection
Several years ago, I became unexpectedly curious about how I connected to past generations. The more I researched, the more I appreciated the life experiences, sacrifices and perseverance of my ancestors. Like many others over the past generations, my ancestors experienced ethnic, political, and religious persecution. Mind you, some of my ancestors not only defended liberty during the American Revolution, but also supported civil rebellion in the bloodiest war in U.S. history.
I uncovered stories of bloodline relatives born out of wedlock and also those who offended human dignity. I discovered ancestors who led prestigious religious institutions and those that led a religious reformation that changed the world. By discovering my family roots, I became overwhelmed with a deep gratitude for the long-odds of my sheer existence.
What I did not expect, was to become convicted with a near-fanatical pursuit to discover the family roots of all humanity. I did not expect to connect two of the most famous people in the history of the world over a period of 6,000 years and 144 generations. I did not expect to connect Adam to every man, woman, and child who has ever lived. But yet, despite a recorded history of unbelievable and unimaginable battles and blessings, I have discovered that this story is our story. We are all related. We are all connected. We are one family under God.

Major news outlets across the United States reported on this press release that discusses a new perspective about how God connects all of us to Adam and one another. The Adam Connection story may very well be considered the most comprehensive modern-day recording of ancestry that connects to an ancient heritage.
Having discovered what and who connects all of humanity, I anticipated that new connections would surface that may surprise or even shock some. For others, their beliefs will be affirmed. While connecting two of the most famous people in the history of the world was originally unexpected by me, today we can connect two of the most famous people in modern history. Unfortunately, since the age of enlightenment over 400 years ago, contradictions between science and religion have eroded our understanding and belief in human interconnections.
I recently discovered that Barack Obama and George W. Bush are related by a common great-grandfather going back 1100 years to the 9th century English monarch, King Alfred the Great. Even more astonishing is the Obama and Bush bloodlines connect with Kenneth, the first king of Scotland and 104th great-grandson of Adam. The presidents common ancestry also includes a 13th century great-grandfather, King John of England who applied his royal seal to the Magna Carta in 1215. This "Great Charter" remains the first documented declaration of constitutional law and inspired our founding fathers in America when they wrote the United States Constitution.
You see, there are many more things in the world that connect us than divide us, least of which is our common ancestry. Presidents Obama and Bush are a shining example of the bloodline connections between two U.S. Presidents with quite different ethnic and political backgrounds. They defy the racial and partisan divide in America and provide a new perspective that can reunite divisions in our country.
